Play Like a Girl Australia has welcomed three inspiring Olympic athletes as its newest ambassadors, each determined to empower girls across the country to lead with confidence, courage, and purpose both in sport and beyond it.
Triple Olympian Cayla George, former Matildas goalkeeper and Olympian Lydia Williams, and Olympic bronze medallist Caity Parker are joining forces with Play Like a Girl to help elevate the leadership potential of women and girls nationwide.
Founder and CEO Holly Bailey says the ambassador partnership is a pivotal step in changing how Australia sees women in sport.
“Girls who stay in sport become women who lead,” says Bailey. “We are determined to keep women and girls in the game for as long as possible and to empower them to see that the skills they build in sport will shape them as leaders far beyond it.
The stories of these incredible women remind every girl that sport does not just shape athletes, it shapes leaders, changemakers, and role models.”
Through Play Like a Girl’s national platform, the ambassadors will connect with schools, councils, clubs, and communities, particularly in regional areas, to share their experiences, inspire confidence, and champion leadership through sport.
Each ambassador brings a unique story of resilience and leadership.
“Leadership is learned in the moments no one sees,” says Cayla George. “Sport taught me how to show up for others. That is what we want girls to discover.”
“When girls see women leading, they believe they can too,” says Lydia Williams. “We are building role models in every club and community.”
“Sport gave me the courage to take up space and use my voice,” says Caity Parker. “I want girls to feel that same power, not just in the ring, but in every room they walk into.”
Play Like a Girl Australia partners with schools, councils, and sporting clubs to empower girls with the leadership skills, confidence, and connections they need to thrive, in sport and as the next generation of women leading Australia forward.
“We’re incredibly proud to welcome these exceptional leaders in Australian sport as ambassadors for Play Like a Girl Australia,” Bailey says. “Together, we’re empowering girls to see sport as a powerful platform for leadership, influence, and change.”
Play Like a Girl Australia empowers girls through sport to become confident, capable leaders, on the field and beyond it.
